Just announced: join us on Saturday, November 30 at the Hook and Ladder in Minneapolis for the official release of our climate crisis concept album, All Dressed Up, No Funeral.
8pm doors / 21+ / tickets are $10 advance, $15 at the door. / covid policy
Decorated Twin Cities Hip Hop duo Guante & Big Cats return with their first project in five years, a concept album about the climate crisis. Fresh off a guest appearance on Fred Again’s Grammy-winning Actual Life 3, Kyle Tran Myhre has crafted a furious, laser-focused rebuke to doomsaying, “abandon your posts”-style cynicism. Over some of the most expansive and memorable beats of producer Spencer Wirth-Davis’ decorated career, Tran Myhre affirms that while it is naive to believe that victory is inevitable, it is equally naive to believe that victory is impossible. This is an album about how collective action can be healing, how grief can be a superpower, and how hope can—and often must—have sharp edges.
We’ll be joined by one of my all-time favorite local singer/songwriters, Lydia Liza (who also features on two songs on the album).
Also, the album itself is out now via Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
We haven’t played live since 2018, I think? So we’re excited, and have a few surprises planned. Here are a few in-studio live performance videos from the new album, though the live set will be… bigger.
Finally, this probably warrants its own post at some point, but I’ll just share this as long as I’m talking about live shows: I got to perform at the *Target Center* here in Minneapolis this past week, as a guest appearance during Grammy-winning artist Fred Again’s set. Here’s a photo; click through for some video.
