Subscribe to My New Newsletter!

The site you’re on now is still going to be my primary website, where I share my videos, music, writing, booking info, etc. But I’ve also just started a newsletter over at Ghost. Honestly, I’ve just been getting sick of social media (maybe you can relate), and how its algorithms incentivize approaches to connection that I don’t think are healthy or sustainable. I want to share my work, sure, but I also want to share resources and perspectives that I think are important—my hope is that the newsletter will be more reliable for that.

Here’s the first post (with a recap of what I’ve been up to lately); you can also subscribe there for free!

Three Upcoming Workshops

So much of my work is not public-facing; it happens at schools, organizations, behind-the-scenes, etc.. So it’s fun to have three public, open-to-anyone opportunities to share:

June 18: You Never Zine Alone: BTS-Focused Virtual Zine Workshop/Fundraiser for a Family in Gaza: I get that there are a lot of words in that sentence that don’t always go together. But I’ll be co-facilitating a workshop on zine-making for Festa (iykyk) for any ARMYs out there who are looking for ways to (1) do something creative and fun and (2) help raise money for a family trying to leave Gaza. This is a small action, for a niche audience, benefitting one specific fundraiser—but that’s part of the point. Supporting larger efforts is important, and bringing their energy into the spaces/communities we’re already in is also important. And if you can’t make it, you can still donate here.

June 22: Day-Long Spoken Word Workshop at Everwood Farmstead: We’re going to have a good five hours to dig into spoken word (whether you’re new to it or not), do some writing and sharing, and build community in Everwood’s beautiful space.

July 6 – August 10: Of What Future Are These, the Wild, Early Days? Six-Week Virtual Course via Button Poetry: This will be my second virtual Button course; this time, we’re going to focus on future-focused poetry through the lens of science fiction and the “anthemic” impulse.

A graphic describing a virtual event for zine writing and socializing and fundraising with ARMY, the BTS fandom, taking place Tuesday, June 18, 7-8 pm CDT. It’s free to register and donations are encouraged for a GoFundMe supporting Abdullah and his family in Gaza. The background is a sheet of notebook paper and the title of the event is in cutout letters, scrapbook style, reading: Zines with ARMY! There is an illustration of a purple whale, a symbol that shows up in BTS music and imagery. There’s a photo of V of BTS biting into a slice of watermelon.
