Spoken Word Videos

A lot of my writing/performance work is documented online, but I wanted to set up a page here just with a handful of personal favorites. They’re in no particular order; some I wrote when I was like 18, and some I wrote when I was 40. You can find more on my own channel, and via Button Poetry’s channel, but this is a solid introduction to my work.

Also: not videos, but two of my most recent pieces:

poem for the first day of the poetry unit in language arts class
ten responses to the phrase "man up"
when it really is just the wind, and not a furious vexation
how to explain white supremacy to a white supremacist
a pragmatist's guide to magic
quicksand
handshakes (on letting go)
consent at 10,000 feet
tension and release
riverbed
love in the time of undeath
the art of taking the L
to throw a wrench in the blood machine
no kings, al bricks
matches
when they look right through you
the family business
why do you write poems when death is all around us
